At Antico, we’ve always believed that the most beautiful interiors are those that feel collected, considered and deeply personal. It’s an approach shared by Melbourne interior design studio Twostyle, known for creating spaces that balance bold expression with a refined elegance.

For our inaugural journal, we sat down with Twostyle co-founder Alanah to talk about the studio’s approach to design, where they find inspiration, the materials and details they’re currently drawn to, and what makes a home feel truly timeless.

We also chat about how Antico pieces find their way into Twostyle projects, from statement moments to beautifully layered coffee tables, and some of the spaces the studio is most proud of.

Lucy: How would you describe your design aesthetic in three words?

Alanah: Bold, refined and curated.

Lucy: How do you like to incorporate Antico pieces into your projects?

Alanah: Antico pieces work beautifully across so many of our projects. They add just the right amount of depth and interest to a space, particularly when you’re looking for a little sparkle or a statement element.

We especially love incorporating them into coffee table styling. Pairing a statement Antico piece with candles, books and other collected objects creates a beautifully layered and considered look.

Lucy: Which project are you most proud of, and why?

Alanah: From an interiors perspective, Casa Alta (my home) is one we’re particularly proud of. It feels perfectly refined, yet bold, with beautiful soft curves and a balance of our two individual styles coming through.

From a custom furniture curation project, Miller Street was a real standout. The deep, rich colours and patterns aligned so naturally with our design ethos and gave us the opportunity to create something with a lot of personality.

Lucy: Where do you most often source inspiration for your interiors?

Alanah: We’re continually inspired by European interiors and designers, particularly their use of texture and tactile materials. There’s a timelessness to European design that creates such a beautiful foundation, which we then like to layer with our own flair through colour, pattern and personality.

We also draw a lot of inspiration from each other as a studio. We’re a close-knit team, and everyone brings a wealth of knowledge and inspiration from different places, experiences and travels. We’re constantly bouncing ideas off one another and encouraging each other to push the boundaries.

Lucy: What materials, eras or details are you most drawn to right now?

Alanah: We’re really drawn to unique natural stones, particularly those with their own depth, movement and character, and pairing them with metals.

Bronze is a favourite at the moment because, while it’s a metal, it still brings so much warmth and depth to a space. We love pairing it with deeper-toned stones and incorporating plenty of texture to create a balance that feels layered and warm rather than cold.

Lucy: What makes a space feel truly timeless to you?

Alanah: For us, timelessness starts with the foundations of the home. We like the architecture, materials and framework to feel grounded and natural, elements that will age beautifully and allow you to layer and evolve the space over time.

It’s also about creating a home that feels true to you and the way you actually live, rather than designing around what happens to be trending at the time. Spaces can date quickly when too many trends are incorporated simply because they’re popular.

We prefer to lean into what the home naturally brings, its architecture, original character and surroundings, and use that as the foundation for the design.
